Crossroads

Everybody faces this situation in their lives. A point where they have to choose which path they want to take. I already faced this life changing experience back in sophomore year. It was after my 21st birthday. Prior to that, I was still an immature teenager who was still living his high school days. Yes, in my mind I was still in MRSM PC and 17 years old, even though I was actually already 20+ of age and studying in the US.

This is the truth. I'm not making things up here. At that time I was still making dumbass immature jokes. Well the people who have my MSN since freshman year have noticed the wild statements, jokes or accusations I put on my MSN status. The Siti Musliha and the anjing thing were the peak of my humiliation. The dudes here in Madison keep on bringing those up so I guess I have to admit my immaturity had a big impact on my image. I didn't get the respect I deserve or perhaps, since I was acting like a child, I deserved to be treated like one.

Anyhew, my 21st bday came and I was suddenly shocked to realize that I was already an adult. I was no more the teenager who could do or say anything he wants without thinking what were the consequences. My problem was I was still thinking and acting like a 17 year old. To change from 17 to 21 years old in a flash was impossible for me and there was a time when I went to an identity crisis phase. It was hard for me. I was afraid what I say might make my friends angry or pissed off coz I do have a big mouth.

Even though it took me a while, somehow I survived that phase. But now I face a new crossroad; stepping into the working world. I spend my days now looking for jobs instead of registering for classes. I have been spending money on buying formal shirts and pants and ties instead of textbooks. Previously, every mistake I made only affected my grades. From now onwards, I might get my ass fired and that means a lot to me coz I have to survive on my own money now. JPA is not going to aid me with anything. I can't ask my parents for money coz ... I'm not a boy anymore, I am a man and a man has to be responsible for himself.

There's a new world out there for me I'm about to explore. I might face a few challenges, I even might fail and disappoint myself. I just hope that I have the courage to go through those obstacles and bounce back. Hopefully ...... hopefully everything turn out fine for me and I would end up leading a prosperous and wonderful life (crossing my fingers).

Mike Tyson: The Boxing Legend or Not?

A legend is a person who has made enormous contribution to the field that person had endured. Muhammad Ali is definitely without a doubt, a legend. Mike Tyson on the other hand is a different case all together. In my personal opinion, Mike was on his way to become a legend in the late 1980s but all that hope faded away once he terminated his relationship with his longtime coach Kevin Rooney.

To add from bad to worse, Mike was convicted of the rape of Miss Black Rhode Island, Desiree Washington and was sentenced to 6 years in jail. This is when his career started going on the wrong path. Maybe something happened to him in prison. Maybe some redneck sticked his sausage into Mike who knows. But one thing's for sure, after prison, he was never the same fighter he used to be. Did I forget to mention that he converted to Islam. He changed his name to Mike 'Abdul Azez' Tyson. Not sure whether he joined the Nation or the real Islam itself.

But anyhew, after coming out of prison in 1995, he was eager to prove that he was still a beast inside the ring. He won a couple of matches, got a couple of titles. Easy fights to get the World Boxing Confederation and World Boxing Association titles. When I say easy, I meant easy for Mike coz it didn't take him a long time to defeat his opponents.

And then came the the Mike Tyson - Evander Holyfield match in 1997. I do believe that this match can be considered as the match of the decade. I want to say century but I think that belongs to Muhammad Ali. The Tyson - HolyField match should be put in the record books not because of how good the fight was, but an incident that occured during the match that can be considered as one of the most memorable events in boxing history.

The incident started when Tyson got a 3 inch cut above the right eye. Moreover, Holyfield kept on Zidaning (New word for headbutting - reke sendiri brader) Tyson which really pissed him off. He complained to the referee but the ref totally ignored him. Out of frustation, Tyson bit part of Holyfield's ear twice, left and right. Not sure whether Tyson swallowed that chunk of meat or not. But that was the first time that incident has ever happened in boxing and I'm pretty sure Tyson will be remembered for that.

And now look at him (pic). If he controlled his ego, maintained his discipline, he could have become one of the best and respected boxers out there. But instead he keeps on going in and out of jail. What a waste of talent.

Blood Diamond is mind blowing

I went to Marcus Theatres last Friday with GAYen (Gay Giant), Epul and Manggis. We were like so damn bored that night. Got nothing to do and it was winter break; nobody's in the mood to do anything but sleep. So I figured I might as well just force these jerk offs to the movies since that's the only place we could go, besides Denny's of course.

Anyhew, I knew from the beginning that Blood Diamond would be a piece of work not because of Leo DiCaprio but the idea behind the movie itself. If I'm not mistaken I've seen on Oprah how the rebels from different groups fight against each other resulting in enormous bloodshed. Hotel Rwanda also featured the same thing. Even Kanye West wrote a song about how people from certain parts of Africa are oppressed in Diamonds from Sierra Leone. All these sources exposed me to how large the torture and sufferings these people face everyday.

Back to the movie. Well actually at first, GAYen thought the Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith was much more interesting than Blood Diamond, which was I was forced to watch the movie on Thursday since Epul was gullible enough to trust Gayen's words. The damn movie was lame and boring. I fell asleep the moment the movie started until it ended. A good 2 hour sleep but a waste of $8.25. This time I forced the dudes to watch the movie. Somehow rather they caved in.

Going into the cinema itself I was already sleepy. Been sleeping all day actually. Takde bende nak buat tido aa. Takkan nak buat cokodok kot. Gile gay. Anyway, from the moment Jennifer Connelly appeared till the end of the movie I was on full alert, like right after taking a can of Red Bull. I didn't know J Connelly was that beautiful until now. In the movie, her eyes was so pretty, I felt as though she was seducing me with her eyes.

The movie is about a diamond broker from S Africa (Leo), who buys uncut diamonds from the rebels and pays them with a huge number of AK-47s. The rebels murder the village people barbaricly, killing innocent women and children. Men are taken to work at river banks to get the diamonds while the boys are recruited into their army. The boys, mostly below 10 years of age, are trained to shoot at whomever is not part of the rebel. The rebels brainwash these kids into believing that they are fighting for their rights or whuteva. J Connelly plays a journalist with the National Geographic, oursuing a story on these rebels. I seriously believe Leo is multitalented, but I have to hand it to Djimon Hounsou (pic). He deserves at least an Oscar nominee for his role in the movie. You may have seen him in The Island. It sometimes amazes me how a nobody can give a performance better than some of his famous Hollywood major counterparts.

All in all I give this movie a 4/5 rating. You should definitely check it out.
